RMES History

RMES made history as the first Black-owned and operated company at Denver International Airport

Our early presence at DIA centered on public communication infrastructure, beginning with pay phone services—connecting travelers long before mobile connectivity became universal. As technology evolved and traveler needs changed, RMES evolved alongside it. When traditional pay phones became obsolete, we didn’t disappear. We reimagined access. RMES transitioned from paid phone services to free public phones and computer access, ensuring travelers could stay connected regardless of device, destination, or circumstance. That evolution laid the foundation for what RMES is today: a modern airport communications and advertising network designed around engagement, accessibility, and visibility. Today, RMES owns and operates a network of interactive digital communication kiosks throughout DEN airport.

With approximately 7 million travelers each month—over 80 million annually—DIA ranks among the busiest airports in the United States and one of the busiest globally. RMES Communications remains a family-owned and operated company, continuing the legacy established by its founder while evolving under current leadership. Following the passing of founder Herman, the company is led by his son, Miles, who serves as Chief Executive Officer, and his daughter, Pamela, who serves as Vice President. Together, the leadership team honors RMES’s foundation while guiding the company into its next chapter—balancing infrastructure, innovation, and long-term vision.
